Clashes betweeen pro-government forces and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) have resumed in the Bayt Jinn pocket west of Damascus.
Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) claimed that its members made some gains against government forces as a result the night clashes. However, the whole situation remained the same.
The militant-held villages of Bayt Jinn, Mazraat Bayt Jinn and Mughr al Mir remained fully encircled by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies.
HTS’s video depicts the last night clashes:
Following the liberation of the Qaboun district in eastern Damascus, the SAA may start an operation aimed at retaking the Bayt Jinn pocket.
