Ambassador of the Luhansk People’s Republic to the Russian Federation Rodion Miroshnik claimed that the airport of Severodonetsk came under control of Russian-led forces. The airport of Severodonetsk is located about nine kilometers south-east of the city, near the village of Voronovo which recently came under LPR control. The village of Vorono was also reportedly take by Russian-led forces.
“The Severodonetsk airport has been cleared. Ukrainian formations retain control only over a small part of the Severodonetsk agglomeration in the “Azot” plant. Ukrainian militants are firing indiscriminately at areas close to the enterprise. Snipers are working. The circle of allied troops around the remaining group is narrowing,” Miroshnik said on his social media account.
He added that Ukrainian militants are now hiding in the forests around the airport. “This is what the “powerful counter offensive” promised by Kiev looks like in reality,” Miroshnik said ironically. The Russian military continues the mop up operation there.
