On the morning of July 10th, Russian missiles struck a military facility of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the town of Chasov Yar located to the west of Bakhmut (also known as Artyomovsk).
Ukrainian media traditionally claimed that “Russian invaders destroyed a civilian building”. However, the footage provided by the same media revealed that the target was a military facility. Photos from the spot showed a wounded man in military uniform being taken out from under the rubble.
So far, the deaths of at least 16 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the injury of six more have been confirmed.
The target was the dormitory of the local refractory plant in the village of Chasov Yar. According to local reports, it was almost empty since the beginning of the Russian military operations in Ukraine but later it was used by the Ukrainian military who lived there together with the remaining civilians.
The video from the spot confirmed that Ukrainian servicemen were deployed in the area together with foreign fighters, which once again confirmed that Russian missiles hit a military object.
The Russian Ministry of Defence is yet to comment on the strike. It will likely reveal more information on the attack in its daily morning briefing on July 11th.
