At least 15 people were injured on May 19 in an explosion targeting a tourist bus near the world-famous Giza Pyramids in central Egypt.
Most of the injured people were tourists. At least 7 of them were reportedly citizens of South Africa.
According to initial reports, the tourist bus was moving near Egypt’s new museum when it was hit with an improvised explosive device (IED), which had been planted on the side of the road.
The al-Arabiya TV said that Egyptian security forces surrounded the attack area, while bomb disposal squads began a combing operation in search of possible other IEDs.
No group has claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack, yet. However, ISIS remains the main suspect. The terrorist group’s cells have carried out several similar attacks on foreign tourists in Egypt since 2014.
