American-British Strikes Hit Houthi-Controlled Yemeni Island In Red Sea

The American-British coalition carried out on July 6 an airstrike on Kamaran Island, the largest Yemeni island in the Red Sea, the Al-Masirah TV reported.

The news channel, which is run by the Houthis, didn’t provide further details on the strike. Nevertheless, the island’s residents said on social media that the strike targeted an uncrewed suicide boat of the Houthis.

The United States Central Command which unusually announce the coalition’s attacks against the Houthis is yet to comment on the alleged strike.

Since last November, the Houthis have attacked dozens of vessels affiliated with Israel or owned by the U.S. and the United Kingdom in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea in response to the Israeli war and siege on Gaza.

Uncrewed suicide boats, suicide aerial drones as well as anti-ship cruise and ballistic missiles were used in nearly all of these attacks.

In addition, the group launched dozens of suicide aerial drones as well as cruise and ballistic missiles at the southernmost Israeli city of Eilat and shot down six American-made combat drones over Yemen and nearby waters using anti-aircraft missiles.

The U.S. and the UK have carried out hundreds of strikes against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen since January in an attempt to deter the group and degrade its offensive capabilities. The strikes killed some 40 people, including civilians, and wounded more than 126 others. However, they failed to achieve their goal.
