The Jabhtat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) terrorist group and its allies have launched a full-scale advance against the Syrian army outside the Syrian city of Aleppo.
“The Syrian troops are engaged in heavy defensive fighting to prevent terrorists from breaking through to the center of Aleppo,” Russia’s Center for Syrian reconciliation said in a statement.
According to the Russian military, heavy shellings with usage of mortars and multiple rocket launchers are reported. Local sources say that Al Nusra and its allies have concentrated a striking force in the area of Kafr Naha, Regiment 46 and Atareb.
Alleged air strikes by the Russian Aerospace Forces were reported in eastern and southwestern Aleppo.
A Red Crescent aid convoy (reportedly 10-20 trucks) was at Urem al-Kubra destroyed by an air strike in western Aleppo, according to pro-militant sources. Pro-government sources report that the air strike destroyed a warehouse in the same area.
