On January 22, the Egyptian military released a statement claiming that its airstrikes had eliminated 56 vehicles belonging to militants in the North Sinai region.
59 suspected militants were eliminated and 142 suspected militants and criminals were arrested in the framework of the army’s operations in the area, according to the statement. At least 7 troops, including an officer, have been killed in recent clashes with militants, the statement added.
The military also noted that border guards across the country arrested at least 2,189 illegal migrants from different countries
