An aircraft of Afghan Air Force crashed in Uzbekistan in the evening of August 15. No casualties were reported.
According to the head of the information service of the Uzbek Defense Ministry, the details of the incident are being studied. No other comments have peen provided yet.
The aircraft reportedly crashed in the Sherabad district of Surkhandarya region in the south of the country, near the border with Afghanistan.
According to preliminary data, at least one pilot was injured. Some sources reported that two Afghan soldiers were taken to a hospital in the city of Termez after they ejected.
According to the footage, the aircraft was an A-29B Super Tucano of the Afghan Air Force.

Since the beginning of the Taliban’s advance throughout Afghanistan, Afghan soldiers have been forced to cross borders with neighboring countries for several times to escape from the militants.
On August 15th, 84 Afghan soldiers crossed the border with Uzbekistan, asking for assistance. The Afghan marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum was among them. He left the country after the city of Mazar-I-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, was captured by the Taliban. Mazar-I-Sharif was the last government stronghold in the northern Afghanistan.
Amid the ongoing chaos in Afghanistan, it may be supposed that the aircraft crashed over the territory of Uzbekistan when the Afghan servicemen were trying to flee the country that is now under the Taliban’s control.
