Russian forcing continue to launch missile and UAV strikes on the military and energy infrastructure facilities throughout Ukraine. After Ukrainian air defence systems failed to intercept targets and prevent damage to the facilities, the Air Forces of Ukraine was deployed in different Ukrainian regions to attempt to shot down the Russian drones.

In recent days, the Ukrainian Air Force lost at least three aircraft. The losses are confirmed by the Ukrainian side.

At least two Ukrainian warplanes crashed in the Poltava region. These are the Soviet-made Su-24MR reconnaissance aircraft and Su-27 fighter.

Footage of the wreckage of the Ukrainian Su-24 was spread on social networks. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Ukrainian Su-27 was shot down near the village of Porskalevka located west of Mirgorod.

According to the head of the local Ukrainian administration, both aircraft were lost in the past two days. The Ukrainian side does not disclose details, but at least one of them was shot down. The warplanes were probably deployed at the airfield in Mirgorod and were lifted into the air during an air alert where the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down at least one of them.

On October 13, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported that fighter of the Russian Aerospace Forces shot down another MiG-29 of the Ukrainian Air Force in the area of the village of Chervonyi Zaporozhets in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

The loss of four aircraft is a heavy damage to the Ukrainian Air Forces as they already have a big number of warplanes shot down or destroyed by Russian missiles on the airfields. So far, the Russian side retains a significant advantage in the air.
