On December 29, the Ahrar al-Sham Movement resumed its attacks on positions of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) inside and around the Armored Vehicles Base near Harasta district east of the Syrian capital, Damascus, according to Syrian oppositions sources.
A VBIED of the Ahrar al-Sham Movement driven by a Saudi suicide bomber “Abu Dujana al-Jazzrawi” reportedly targeted the Armored Vehicles base.

However, Syrian pro-government sources said that the SAA destroyed the VIBED before it was able to reach the Armored Vehicle Base and fully repelled the Ahrar al-Sham attack. Moreover, the Hezbollah media wing in Syria announced that the SAA discovered and destroyed a tunnel of the Ahrar al-Sham Movement under the base.

In response to the attack, two Su-22M4 warplanes of the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) destroyed several positions of the Ahrar al-Sham Movement around the Armored Vehicle Base and in Harasta district, according to pro-government activists.
The Ahrar al-Sham Movement decision to resume its attack in Eastern Ghouta is likely aimed at sabotaging any peacefully agreement there. The attack comes only few days after an agreement between the SAA and Jaysh al-Islam, a local foe of Ahrar al-Sham.
